The pandemic has caused shifts in perspectives around ways of working, making workers and organizations reevaluate their working styles, environments, and how to work sustainably. Andrew Schwedel, a partner in our New York office and leader of our Macro Trends Group, has been tracking these evolving trends that have increasingly been top of mind in the workforce that not only question what workers want out of their jobs, but their lives.
According to a survey Bain conducted with a market research firm, 58% of workers feel the pandemic forced them to rethink work-life balance, however, questions around working sustainably started to surface even before the pandemic. Because different types of workers want different outcomes from their organizations around this topic, there’s not a singular answer that can help change ways of working. However, it’s important for employers to know what each type of worker wants and needs along with how to respond and adjust to meet their expectations. Listen to Andrew break down how Bain is discovering these new trends, the types of workers that can be in every organization, and how we should start thinking about new ways of working from different perspectives.
