Christoph Schmell

Christoph is a member of our Technology & Cloud and Communication & Media practices. 

Christoph has led various strategy development and implementation, customer strategy and digital/ IT projects with a focus on clients in the technology & telecommunications verticals.

Some of his key projects include leading the digital/agile transformation of a leading Swiss Telco company which included a re-design of the most important customer journeys, definition of new operating model, capability building in human-centric design and agile ways of working. He was also involved in the IT transformation (including development of IT roadmap, CIO org set up, estimate of cost envelope and preparation of service agreements) of an Infra Services company spinning off of a globally leading IT service provider.

In addition to his role at Bain, Christoph is a personal development advisor & mentor for various consultants and a member of Bain's global training and local recruiting teams. He is also the class captain for all Frankfurt-based managers/ senior managers/ associate partners (since 2019).

Before joining Bain, he completed a Dissertation in Theoretical High Energy Physics at Johannes-Gutenberg University Mainz.

Outside of Bain, Christoph previously played soccer on a semi-professional level including 2 years in 4th league in Germany and was part of the German Bain team that won the Bain World Cup in 2018.

He lives with his wife and son near Mainz and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is also interested in all kinds of sports, literature, sustainability and politics & economy.
