What Harley-Davidson and Apple have but Hyundai Motor Company and Samsung Electronics do not have – loyal customers. Apple has devout fans who line up all night to buy its new product as early as possible on the iPhone’s release day. Samsung Electronics, however, do not have such fans for Galaxy. Indeed, this phenomenon has long been an issue for Korean companies. Frederick F. Reichheld of the global consulting firm Bain & Company warned, “A company cannot achieve long-term growth without the recommendations of customers and employees” in his book published in Korea in 2006.
