This second newsletter affirms our cautious optimism about the upcoming holiday season, as positive momentum continues. October same-store sales were up 1.6% over last year's already respectable 2.1%, our toughest comparison so far in 2010. Additional retail and economic indicators updated in the last two weeks show little change in direction. In this newsletter, we also take an in-depth look at the clothing and accessories segment. We further discuss some key insights into women's shopping behavior gleaned from our recent study with Vogue Magazine titled "Why She Shops: The 2010 Fashion and Beauty Study."
