Bain & Company named in the Times top 50 employers for women for the second year running

LONDON – May 23, 2022 – Bain & Company is today featured on The Times newspaper’s prestigious list of the Top 50 Employers for Women in the UK, in partnership with Business in the Community.

Experts recognised Bain & Company for its progressive workplace programmes, dedication to achieving diversity at all levels of its organisation and its generous and market-leading parental leave policies.

The inclusion of Bain & Company’s UK business in The Times list of leading employers for women marks the second year in row that the firm has been honoured by selection for the accolade.

“We are delighted to be recognised for the second year in a row by The Times and by Business in the Community and again highlighted as among the Top 50 Employers for Women,” said James Hadley, Bain & Company’s UK Managing Partner. “Addressing gender inequality is an imperative for our business. We take continual action and pay constant attention so that we can take whatever steps we can to ensure that we are leading the way on this priority. At Bain, we are strongly committed to these efforts to redefine the consulting industry as well as our own business. We will continue to invest in our greatest asset – our people. Our recruitment programmes, equal parental leave policy, flexibility options and overall culture of support are key components to that.”

Bain & Company is an industry leader in the UK in offering equal paid parental leave and was one of the first UK companies to offer this to all employees who become new parents, regardless of their role and gender, providing these staff members with up to 52 weeks of leave, with the first 29 weeks fully paid.

“We believe that creating options by offering equal parental leave is one of the most effective actions that employers can take to move us forward on gender equality,” said Barney Hamilton, Chief Talent Officer for Bain in the UK. “We actively track and encourage uptake from all employees, regardless of gender, so we can make parental leave of the sort we offer the new normal. We’re proud that in 2022, 89% of new fathers at Bain in the UK took extended parental leave. We also continue to focus our efforts across the whole gender equality and diversity agenda, striving to make the strongest and fastest progress we can in all of these areas.”

Bain & Company is committed to recruiting at parity and to retaining and promoting women at the same level as men. In 2018 the firm launched the True North Scholarship for Women to support exceptional female students and encourage them to enter management consulting, an industry where women are traditionally underrepresented.

Diversity, equity and inclusion is a strategic priority for Bain, which relies on extraordinary teams that deliver unparalleled results for our clients. The firm does this by assembling the most diverse set of experiences, backgrounds, strengths and perspectives and bringing this diversity to help our clients address their most important business challenges.

The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers striving for gender equality in the workplace.

Run by the charity Business in the Community – The Prince’s Responsible Business Network – for more than a decade, the highly rigorous and competitive process used to select the businesses chosen for inclusion identifies companies which make gender equality part of their business strategy and are trying to bring it to life at all levels of the organisation.

Applicants are assessed on a range of areas, including their approach to recruitment, family friendly policies and how they have championed gender equality in the context of the pandemic. The complete list of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2022 can be found here.
