Bain & Company named as a “Best Place To Work For LGBTQ Equality” for the 17th consecutive year by the Human Rights Campaign

NEW YORKJanuary 25, 2024– Bain & Company is proud to announce that it has received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index. The firm earned a perfect score on HRC’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the 17th consecutive year, with the index benchmarking and measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

The results of the 2023-2024 CEI showcase how U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+ friendly workplace policies in the U.S. and abroad. These critical non-discrimination protections cover 21 million employees in the U.S. and around the globe.  Bain & Company’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria earned a score of 100 and the designation as recipient of the Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition and know that as a firm, we will continue to access, incorporate and encourage actions toward achieving equality,” said João Soares, a leader in Bain & Company’s affinity group for those who identify across the LGBTQ spectrum, Pride at Bain. “Each year, Bain makes it a priority to holistically reassess our efforts to ensure that we remain at the forefront of anti-discrimination against the LGBTQ community and are consistently exceeding the standards we’ve set.”

Bain was the first global consulting firm to offer reimbursements on federal taxes levied on same-sex domestic partner health benefits in the US. Today, the firm offers a robust Workplace Gender Transition Guide and extensive gender affirmation health benefits as well.

Bain invests deeply in causes and organizations that impact the global LGBTQ community, including The Tent Partnership for Refugees—through which Bain has committed to mentoring 50 LGBTQ refugees in San Francisco, New York and London—the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Immigration Equality, San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Lambda Legal. The firm also maintains partnerships with Stonewall and the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF).

Additionally, Bain sponsors several missions to end discrimination against the LGBTQ community, including the Equality Act, which aims to codify LGBTQ nondiscrimination; the Uniting American Families Act in the US, which seeks to stop the deportation of binational same-sex couples; as well as many state, national and global business coalitions that advance LGBTQ equality around the globe.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the center of Bain’s business strategy. In 2021, the firm launched FurtherSM, its collective ambition toward creating a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive world. Today, more than 2,500 Bain employees are actively involved in this work, bringing together the strength of the firm’s expertise and talent to deliver transformative impact to the world’s most pressing challenges.
