Masaya Watanabe

Masaya Watanabe joined Bain in 2023. By leveraging his 40 years of extensive executive and industry experience, he supports consulting with pragmatic co-creation on a wide variety of themes.

Prior to joining the firm, Masaya held several executive positions including Chief Strategy Officer of the Information and Communication Systems Company, President of Hitachi America, CEO of Healthcare Business Unit, General Manager of Smart Transformation in Hitachi, and EVP, COO ＆ CIO in HU Group Holdings. He has also held several public roles in healthcare including Chairman of the Japan Federation of Medical Devices Industries, Advisor to the Cabinet on Healthcare Strategy, and a member of several government committees.

Masaya graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo. He holds a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Tokyo, and a Master of Science (MoT) from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
