Food systems expert focused on Africa and building public-private partnerships to drive transformation
Celeste Le Roux is a member of our Social Impact practice.
She focuses on building inclusive, resilient food systems in Africa. Much of her work has centered on East Africa and dairy sectors.
Celeste has experience collaborating with a range of private, non-profit, and public sector clients in providing strategic and operational advisory services, building partnerships, and designing transformation programs.
She participated in the design of Dairy Nourishes Africa, a multi-year public private partnership to transform the dairy sector in East Africa, and is leading implementation in Tanzania funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She works directly with local food processors and agribusinesses in Africa, and develops inclusive sourcing models focused on smallholder farmers.
Celeste also has experience designing programs to drive adoption of climate-smart technologies and practices across agricultural value chain players, including facilitating access to finance.
As part of Bain Africa for nearly ten years, Celeste served in several leadership roles in the Johannesburg office including class captain and enjoys being a mentor to other Bainies.
Prior to joining Bain, Celeste designed and implemented media capacity building and public diplomacy initiatives internationally as part of a US non-profit organization.
She holds a Master of International Business with a focus on Development Economics from The Fletcher School, Tufts University and undergraduate degrees in economics and international relations from the University of Mary Washington.
