Whit McClung is a member of Bain's Energy & Natural Resources practice.
His work in Utilities has focused on grid strategy to enable the energy transition, including capital and O&M investment planning, customer experience, and workforce deployment. This includes leading projects to redefine the grid strategy and built optimized, multi-year capital investment plans to improve customer outcomes and modernize the grid.
Through this work, Whit collaborates with distribution engineering teams to identify new grid technologies and solutions required to meet changing customer and community needs and support a more reliable, clean energy future. He has experience across T&D functions, including planning, engineering, customer experience, finance, field operations, and regulatory and legislative teams to create executable capital plans.
Whit has led advanced analytics teams to partner with clients to develop capital investment plans that are optimized to deliver outcomes across multiple objectives.
Prior to joining Bain, he worked in corporate finance at Caterpillar. Whit holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia.
Outside Bain, Whit enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
