Maria Teresa Tejada is a member of our Financial Services practice and a leader on our global Risk & Regulation team.
Maria Teresa advises financial services firms and non-financial corporates on corporate strategy, governance, as well as banking and risk best practices. As a trusted risk advisor to C-Suites around the world, she has deep subject matter expertise in identifying, managing and mitigating risks. Over her 30-year career, Maria Teresa has led the design and implementation of transformational initiatives such as re-engineering credit underwriting, integrating risk functions, as well as managing risks of M&A in bank mergers. She provides guidance on the regulatory implications of enabling capabilities and innovation, leveraging experience from years with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Prior to joining us, she held senior executive leadership roles at high-performing organizations, including Managing Director Credit Risk Management & Advisory at Goldman Sachs, Chief Credit Officer and Deputy Chief Risk Officer at KeyCorp, and Chief Strategic Enterprise Risk Officer at Wells Fargo. Over her career, Maria Teresa has advised CEOs and CFOs on M&A and financing transactions, as well as actively engaged in risk dialogues with board directors, investors and regulators.
Outside of her client work, Maria Teresa has served on the boards of private companies, legal entities and non-profits. Today, she is a board director at Pacific Mutual Holding Company and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
Maria Teresa earned her M.A. in International Relations from Fletcher School, Tufts University, and a B.A. in Political Economy from Williams College.
