James Carlson

James Carlson is a member of our Private Equity and Technology practices, focusing on growth equity and software.

During his time at Bain, James has diligenced over 50 software assets across fintech, healthcare IT, other vertical software, data management, cybersecurity, sales/martech, e-commerce/marketplace software, collaboration, and consumer technology. He also has experience leading strategy and pricing engagements with technology clients.

Prior to joining Bain, James received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Dartmouth College. He then took a temporary leave from Bain after his associate years to join a software startup before earning his MBA from Harvard Business School.

James is an avid cyclist in his personal time: you can often find him exploring climbs and fire trails across the Bay Area.
