Crop protection, also known as agrochemicals or pesticides, is responsible for the second highest earnings in the fine chemical industry. According to the National Union for the Crop Protection Products Industry (Sindiveg), this value is expected to reach $12.2 billion in 2014. This is 6% higher than in 2013, the largest increase in the entire chemical industry.
