WHAT YOU’LL DO 

You will, as the Manager, be responsible for envisioning, implementation and adoption of all features/functionality related to one larger or a few smaller products. This role represents the “voice of the customer”, maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog to ensure that everyone is working on tasks that maximize business value and deliver the most necessary fixes and functionality to all customers.   

Product Planning & Stakeholder Engagement (45%)

•  You will distill high level roadmap set by Product Manager into a clear and actionable sequence of work. 

• You will ensure continuous communication with key firm and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment with roadmap and make right business decisions in the face of rapidly changing conditions and priorities

• You will research and define the customer segments served by the product(s). Develop a deep understanding of customer goals and the value customers derive from the product(s), as well as future opportunities.

• You will measure customer value/business outcomes through pilots, surveys, sprint reviews, KPI metrics, etc to ensure product fulfills vision and rapidly change roadmap to match evolving needs

• You will create and execute end user communication, marketing, and training strategy, rapidly adapting based on feedback

• You will work closely with other Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Engineering Mangers across the IT department to drive synergies in our products, with the goal of reducing friction for end users

• You will help establish standards, guardrails, and document best practices around data integrations to help scale delivery 

Product Delivery (35%)

• You will motivate and inspire product teams by conveying the product vision and helping the team understand the business purpose

• You will maintain a clear, prioritized product backlog based on business value and the product roadmap, continuously reprioritizing to maximize total business outcome

• You will work with appropriate technical teams and third parties to deliver continuous feature releases & upgrades as well as optimizations to the core platform

•You will identify high usage APIs and set proactive monitoring methods to ensure continuous flow of data to end users/platforms. 

• You will write appropriate user stories at the right level of detail for the team, including acceptance criteria and continuously improves based on team feedback

• You will actively participate in appropriate Agile ceremonies for this product

• Keep an eye out for innovation and new technology improvements (AI, etc.) that can inform efficiencies or serve as value creators for team and business

• You may manage temporary or rotational staff like interns or contractors to help complete this work

Domain knowledge (20%)

• You will develop, maintain, and demonstrate domain expertise including both internal (Bain) and external (market) trends

• You will understand technical topics at a conceptual level - can collaborate with Technical product management team to inform a technology strategy that aligns with overall product strategy

ABOUT YOU 

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required and 5 to 8 years of progressive experience. At least 2-4 years relevant API and/or Data Integration experience. Also, Agile product owner certification is preferred.

• In-depth understanding of API, data integration and Agile methodologies and attention to detail.

• Direct experience with industry standard API technologies (Microsoft API management)

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. 

• Ability to influence cross-functional teams ranging in seniority and create a consensus between stakeholders

• Strong communication skills, can explain complex requirements to engineering team or propose strategic direction to leadership team

• Ability to understand complex business needs, competitive offerings, and industry trends and translate them to customer-facing solutions

• Ability to use analysis to prioritize business value

• Demonstrates a leadership mindset and has a positive influence on culture and morale across broader function

• Vendor management skills including holding them accountable for deliverables and pushing through roadblocks

• Willingness to travel as needed.
