The crisis puts low-key TSMC in the limelight. That's because companies from Qualcomm to Apple outsource manufacturing to the Taiwanese colossus that prides itself as being "everyone's foundry". Thanks to a formidable technological lead over rivals, the group has a near-60% share in the overall market, according to industry watcher TrendForce. For cutting-edge semiconductors, though, its share is as high as 90%, consultant Bain & Company reckons.
