According to consulting firm Bain & Company's Global Healthcare Private Equity and Corporate M&A Report 2018, technology giants from outside of the health-care sector such as Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. and Tencent Holdings Ltd. are attracting more attention from sponsors.

“It is certainly the hot topic. I would say the biggest impact of Amazon is it has everyone thinking about the blurring of the lines within health care,” said Nirad Jain, a partner with Bain & Company and a co-author of the report.
