Bain & Company partner Luiza Mattos named Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum

Sao Paulo – March 11, 2021 – Bain & Company has announced that Luiza Mattos, a Sao Paulo-based partner and an expert in the firm's Healthcare and Customer Experience practices, has been named a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum.  Luiza has been recognized for her professional business contributions, client impact, and her commitment to promoting gender parity and developing young female leaders within Bain and beyond.

Luiza is one of 112 of the most promising leaders under the age of 40 named to this year’s YGL class.  These individuals are involved in activities ranging from advocating for public healthcare to campaigning for inclusivity in medical research. This year, the YGL class is gender equal and has representatives from 56 countries.

Nominated from around the world, the young leaders are assessed according to rigorous selection criteria and have demonstrated their commitment to serving society. The Forum of YGLs works closely with the World Economic Forum to integrate young leaders into deep interaction with other stakeholders of global society.

“On behalf of her Bain colleagues in South America and around the world, I congratulate Luiza on this well-deserved honor,” said Alfredo Pinto, head of Bain South America.  “Now more than ever, her experience in healthcare and her leadership in the areas of gender parity and inclusion are in great demand.  I am confident that she will be a truly positive force in shaping a better future for us all.”

Luiza is passionate about developing strategies to deliver quality, affordable healthcare solutions.  She has deep expertise in payers, primary care and hospital providers, as well as healthcare ecosystems, especially in Brazil.

As Women@Bain champion in South America, Luiza promotes gender parity and helps develop young female leaders, both within the firm and beyond.  She has also conducted numerous studies on how to promote more women in into leadership positions.

“It’s an honor to be selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader,” said Mattos. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with other YGLs – past and present – to strive for a more sustainable and inclusive world.”

Prior to joining Bain & Company in 2007, Luiza worked in IT consulting for the telecommunications industry.

Luiza holds an MBA with a major in finance, operations and marketing from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.  She also has a master’s degree in management from Instituto Coppead de Administração (Brazil) with an extension at WHU (Germany).

She joins a roster of nine other Bain partners who have been selected as Young Global Leaders or are YGL alumni.
