Mark Gottfredson is the global lead of our Complexity Management and Performance Improvement Diagnostic℠ solutions. He is also a member of our Strategy and Advanced Manufacturing & Services practices. He is based in our Dallas office, which he founded in 1990.

Mark has served in a range of leadership positions within Bain, including as leader of our global Performance Improvement practice, as the co-head of our Americas Automotive and Mobility practice, and as a member of our Board of Directors.

Mark’s client work focuses on full potential programs, revenue enhancement, cost reduction, complexity management and major change programs.

He is the author of “The Breakthrough Imperative” and has written extensively for publications including the Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Singapore Business Times, South China Morning Post, London Business School’s Business Strategy Review, World Business Review and The Edge (Malaysia).

In 2005, Consulting Magazine named him one of the world’s top 25 consultants.

Historically, Mark has worked extensively across both the Americas and Japan. He is fluent in English and Japanese.

He holds an MBA, with high distinction, from Harvard Business School. He also graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University.

Mark has been married for 39 years and has five children and 11 grandchildren. He is deeply active in serving in non-profit leadership roles for a number of religious and charitable organizations, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Boy Scouts of America, the Artisan Center Theater and the Dallas Citizen’s Council, as well as on the advisory council of the BYU Marriott School of Business.
