Eric Sheng leads Bain's Global Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering Group. He is an industry-recognized leader in applied AI and machine learning.
Eric brings deep expertise in enterprise AI strategy, as well as the development and deployment of large-scale, high-business-impact AI and machine learning solutions, with a particular focus on generative AI applications based on multi-modal foundation models.
Eric also has extensive experience in delivering machine learning applications such as contact center NLP solutions, chatbots, generative marketing creatives, media content analytics, customer escalation prediction, propensity-to-purchase/renew, omni-channel marketing attribution, microprocessor adaptive power & performance controls, and smartphone predictive maintenance. He is also the lead inventor of 13 patents in the field of predictive analytics and optimization.
Prior to joining Bain, Eric gained more than 20 years' of high-tech industry experience. During that time, Eric served as the Head of Enterprise Data Science (BU, R&D, Marketing Ecosystems) at VMware, General Manager of Silicon Operations at NVIDIA, and Head of Data Science and Machine Intelligence at Lenovo Mobile Business Group Services.
Eric holds an M.S. in computer science with a specialization in machine learning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA with a major in finance from The Wharton School, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Davis, graduating as a member of Tau Beta Pi.
Beyond his professional commitments, Eric is passionate about fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. He has developed several data science and generative AI training programs to improve the technical capabilities of team members and is actively involved in various Bain practices and company-wide highly leveraged initiatives.
