Why did you choose consulting? And why at Bain?
Consulting provides new graduates with the opportunity to work with diverse teams on a variety of interesting and challenging problems for the most high-profile and influential companies. The accelerated learning environment, the laughs, the enduring friendships and generous mentors have made for a memorable and incredible start to my career.
I chose Bain because the culture is unparalleled. There is a concerted effort made to ensure every individual is valued and supported in their own career journey. The strong apprenticeship support model has enabled me to learn deeply, share knowledge and gain new skills and perspectives.
Tell us about your journey since joining us.
Since joining Bain, I have worked on a variety of interesting problems across a number of industries. I have found myself in corporate offices, as well as remote mine sites, collaborating with clients across four continents, and Bain teams on the other side of the world.
My past case experience includes work on the long-term growth strategy of a world leading healthcare provider, and the customer and brand strategy in the consumer products and retail space. Notably over the past year, I have supported a global gold producer in the transformation of their technical services group.
Any advice for someone considering applying?

Everything you need to know
-
What is the best time to apply for an Associate Consultant role at Bain & Company Australia?
For those candidates who have recently graduated or are yet to graduate from an undergraduate, Masters, or PHD program, the best time to apply is during our annual graduate recruitment campaign that takes place between February-March every year.
Although this is the best time to apply, we do accept applications on a rolling basis outside these campaign dates.
-
Do I need a Business or Commerce background to apply?
We consider and hire candidates from a wide variety of academic backgrounds, including everything from arts and education, to mathematics, medicine, engineering and law.
-
Do we accept Associate Consultant applications from international students?
We require all candidates to independently have long-term (i.e. 3+ years) working rights for Australia in order to apply for an Associate Consultant role in our Sydney, Melbourne or Perth offices.
If you do not currently have appropriate working rights for Australia, we encourage you to consider applying for one of our global offices where you do have legal working rights.
-
Is a computer looking at my resume and cover letter?
Contrary to what you might think, every application is reviewed by a team of human beings (not a computer) as we want to take the time to understand your background and experience.
-
What happens after I submit an application to the website?
After submitting your application, you will be sent an additional email with login details and full instructions on how to complete our psychometric assessment. Once this is finalised, your application is complete. If you do not complete the psychometric assessment, we are unable to consider you any further in our process.
If you need reasonable adjustments to be able to complete the psychometric testing, please reach out to us at australia.recruiting@bain.com.
