A macroeconomist with 30 years’ experience, James leads Bain’s partnership with Copenhagen Economics for the INTERSECT model – a global, multi-industry, multi country CGE model used to analyse the carbon and energy transition.

James works with a wide variety of companies on the implications of the clean energy transition, both in building resilience climate action plans but also identifying market opportunities.

Before joining Bain, James led multidisciplinary teams producing the forecast at both the European Central Bank and the Bank of England. He was a key member of the team driving the expansion of the fixed income franchise at Société Générale and was most recently Head of the Macroeconomics of Climate Change at Oxford Economics.

James recently won the Society of Professional Economics 2022 Rybczynski Prize for the best piece of writing on an important real world economic issue for the essay, “Can climate change mitigation boost global growth?”

James has a PhD in macroeconomic modelling from the University of London.
