The Wrong Way to Help Principals

A 2016 Bain & Company study of 12 of the nation's largest school systems found that the average number of staff members that a principal was directly responsible for was nearly 50, compared to managers of other highly skilled professionals, such as accountants, who are responsible for an average of five employees. Even managers of less-skilled employees, such as call-center employees, typically manage only about 15.
