David Yang is a member of our Retail and Consumer Products practices.

He has 15+ years of operating and advisory experience, spanning engagements in transformation, omnichannel strategy, operating model and pricing & promotional effectiveness. Outside of Australia, David has extensive experience with retail and consumer businesses in North America and the UK. His case portfolio includes multiple diligences for both corporate and private equity clients.

David originally joined Bain in 2009 in our Sydney office, and rejoined us in 2022 after spending the prior four years in executive roles at Amazon Australia, bringing a unique combination of consulting and general management experience to our firm.

At Amazon, David was a leader in the company’s retail consumables division, where he launched and ran several business units (including grocery) with full P&L responsibility. David has extensive experience in category management, marketing, supply chain, and product development.

In addition to his client work, David helps lead the intersection of advanced analytics and retail for Bain in APAC.

David holds dual bachelor degrees in commerce and law (with honours) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
