Celebrating its 124th anniversary this year, Kubota is a Japanese manufacturer of industrial machinery with 1.2 trillion yen (approximately 12 trillion won) in annual sales from its global operations in 52 countries worldwide. At 2 p.m. January 19, six members of the company’s human resources and public relations teams were attending a meeting to set the schedule for 2014 at a conference room in its head office near Namba Station in Osaka. What was instantly noticeable there was the fact that all of them were female.
