WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM 

The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for the timely calculation, processing, and distribution of the Mexico Payroll, including executing payroll changes, manual entries, pro-rated payments, tax computation, and payroll-related deductions. This individual will be expected to provide comprehensive customer service to employees at all levels and ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures.


WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Manage aspects of the Mexico payroll processes, including processing payments, handling employee status changes, managing benefit deductions, addressing garnishments, tracking taxable fringe benefits; direct deposit rejects, etc.
  • Review supporting documentation for all payroll-related changes.
  • Ensure that all aspects of Payroll, including pay rates, deductions, taxes, and deduction-related requests, are handled promptly and accurately. 
  • Ensure that payroll transactions adhere to company-specific policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with the HR/Finance department to enhance efficiency and facilitate information sharing.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for coordinating all employee changes with the external payroll service provider.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy by following all controls and focusing strictly on timelines.
  • Ensure monthly payroll taxes and reporting are accurate and support the results through the reconciliation process.
  • Ensure accounting records related to Payroll are accurate and collaborate with our Finance team.
  • Review tax calculations: ISR, SS, ISN, FICA, and foreign taxes (ISR Title V).
  • Manage special payroll payments (inactive personnel) in national or foreign currency.
  • Assist with annual tax filings, balancing, and reporting.
  • Prepare the annual tax packages for US citizens.
  • Maintain the documentation flow for payroll updates/changes and audit employee files for changes.
  • Collaborate in identifying potential risks and implementing additional controls when required.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager and fellow team members to facilitate improvements in both internal and external systems, as well as ongoing enhancements to processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the identification and testing of necessary system upgrades.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding pay calculations, taxes, deductions, and benefits, serving as a knowledgeable resource for various payroll-related matters within the organization.
  • Support HR and employees by researching inquiries and delivering excellent customer service.


ABOUT YOU

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of payroll experience required.
  • Proven ability to accurately calculate Payroll and extensive experience in finance, accounting, and Mexico labor legislation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills with a focus on process improvement to meet all related deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively to complete time-sensitive projects within internal and external deadlines
  • Proficiency in using Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mexico tax processing and global payroll.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting systems 
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • ADP experience
