The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.
Who you will work with
This position is based in the BCN’s Gurgaon office and is an integral part of the Performance Improvement Centre of Expertise (PI CoE). PI CoE helps Bain case teams in India and abroad on multiple cost reduction/optimization activities through a suite of solutions ranging from Procurement (Spend analytics, maturity assessment, category & vendor strategy etc.), Zero-based budgeting (Cost visibility, Budgeting, Initiative tracking, client training), Supply Chain (Inventory Diagnostics, Inventory Optimization, Network Optimization, Manufacturing Diagnostics, Integrated Business Planning etc.) to cost diagnostics (Value Calculator, Net Working Capital etc.), savings and PMI Analysis. The CoE undertakes complex and advanced data analysis to analyze client’s data and then generates critical insights to help achieve the cost objective. Over time we have built seamless solutions and use powerful, dynamic visualizations/charts on multiple platforms (Power BI, Tableau) to showcase our results. PI CoE is also involved in generation of critical IP useful for new performance improvement cases globally at Bain.
What you’ll do
This role is focused on Procurement. Manager works with teams of Project Leaders, Associates and Analysts on problem solving, work-planning, providing expertise, research, analytics, and consulting approach to drive a case & generate insights/ solutions for the client in a client ready format while managing internal & external stakeholder. You will also help Bain partners/ experts in developing intellectual property (IP), go-to-market materials, pitch documents and publications. The position reports into a Sr. Manager/ Director/Sr. Director
- Lead a couple of teams comprising of Project Leaders, Associates and Analysts to execute multiple cases simultaneously
- Experience in managing engagements related to procurement & cost transformation, strategic sourcing, or category management.
- Deep understanding of procurement processes (source-to-contract, procure-to-pay), procurement trends, category expertise (direct and indirect), procurement diagnostics toolkit such as spend analytics, maturity assessment and devising category specific cost optimization strategies especially procurement specific such as vendor optimization, strategic sourcing, RFx etc.
- Understand client’s data using P&L, ERP Systems, budgeting systems, supplier databases and purchase order systems to analyze & solve the problem statement
- Experience with procurement tools and systems (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle Procurement) is a plus
- Understand client needs & situations and adapt to case expectations. Provide direction and support to resolve complex problem statements and effectively manage client & team, using Bain’s toolkit
- Promote cross-collaboration with other BCN teams to support holistic case delivery and facilitate the development of IP
- Utilize relevant analytical tools for case delivery (proficiency across Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, and other data analysis/ visualization tools)
- Implement rigorous quality control measures across all work streams to ensure zero defects and deliver high-quality work
- Communicate data, knowledge, and clearly explain insights and implications for the client to the entire team. Generate and screen realistic answers based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions
- Effectively manage client and team meetings, deliver clear and professional presentations to the team, team leaders and managers/partners/ clients across the Bain system
- Consistently provide responsible feedback in all interactions; recognize team’s development needs and provide feedback toward continuous improvement
- Being a strategic leader take responsibility of sharing appropriate information within work streams and developing team members for key leadership roles on BCN teams
- Take ownership of staffing and assigning specific workstreams, while monitoring and managing workloads to address and resolve team member overloads effectively.
- Participate and/or lead other office initiatives such as recruiting, training, business strategy, marketing etc.
About you
- Candidate should be a graduate/post-graduate with strong academic records and relevant experience in procurement, spend analysis, category management, cost transformation or performance improvement role
- Procurement function, process, sourcing and Category specific experience is a Plus
- Work experience range in case highest qualification is undergraduate studies – 5-8 years of exposure to Industry or management consulting firms
- Work experience range in case highest qualification is postgraduate studies – 3-6 years of exposure to Industry or management consulting firms
- Excellent analytical skills, communication skills (ability to deliver clear and professional presentations to senior stakeholders), team management and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of visualization and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI (Python is a plus)
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, handle multiple tasks and dynamic case expectations
- Effective communication skills and ability and deliver clear and professional presentations to senior stakeholders (Bain managers, partners, and clients)
