JOB SUMMARY
Key member of the Staffing/PD team, responsible for Staffing and Professional Development for assigned consulting peer groups in Amsterdam. Take full ownership of maintaining up-to-date staffing records and staffing reporting across levels. Provide support to Talent Senior Director and HRVP as well as peer group leads on the planning and on-going improvement of class programmes. Oversee and be the key contact for your cohorts regarding flex options including transfers, externships, LOA, MBA, etc. Serve as an advisor and sounding board to the leadership team on team and people issues. Drive and / or provide support to projects in the Talent space.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Staffing
• Coordinate with case team leadership to understand staffing needs for specific practices / capabilities - including nature of assignments and staffing requirements - and oversee staffing of teams to projects based on understanding of client, office and individual needs
• Work with Talent and office leadership to ensure staffing decisions optimize tradeoffs among client service, consultant growth and retention, and utilization / Bain business needs
• Work with Warsaw GBS to ensure current capacity at the revelant Consulting level is up to date and accurate, including monthly reporting, approval of holiday, etc.
• Point person for Private Equity Group (PEG) staffing, working with the leadership team in PEG to understand all Associate Consultant and Consultant staffing needs within the PEG ringfence, leading 1-1 conversations to staff individuals – including nature of assignments and staffing requirements both by deal and by tracking ringfence ins/outs
• Track and support the sustainability of case teams by Case check-ins, CTSU / hours red flag ID and intervention both in the general pool (GP) and PEG
• Work with peers across the global / regional system to ensure clients are served and we serve and support on global / regional cases requiring local team or team members as required
Program Management
• Track consultants with performance issues and identify appropriate staffing
• Develop one-on-one relationships with individuals within your Class. Regularly meet with each to discuss their career development, goals, objectives and interests. Provide guidance and mentoring on career management
• Act as their point person for all leave and flex option requests. Seek eligibility advice from HR specialists and present for approval by Talent Senior Director / HRVP
• Support PD advisors and Promotion Guardians to shepherd people in the promotion window e.g. develop materials, complete due diligence as required
• Manage professional development of your Class. Review all case end and bi-annual PD reviews to ensure quality feedback and clear messaging
• Work closely with Peer group leads to hold regular class meetings and trainings; invite relevant parties to ensure your Class are provided relevant content pertaining to their careers
• Partner with HR on performance management, employee relations, and other issues related to employment law and policy matters
• Partner with HR Specialist on transfer process and flex options
• Support individuals within your class as they go through key moments of truth; this involves seeking advice from Talent Director / HRVP and / or HR team to ensure we are delivering employees needs and reducing business risk
• Participate in the development and recommendation of operating policy and procedural improvements for Consulting staff and Talent team
Projects
• Drive and / or provide support to projects in the Talent management (e.g. WWES initiatives, PD, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Focus in human resources or in a business related discipline or comparable related professional experience
Work Experience
Experience: 3-5 years
Comprehensive knowledge of all functional areas of Human Resources typically gained through Human Resource, professional development and/or staffing experience
Former professional services firm who has moved out of consulting or banking, subsequent professional development experience an advantage or an individual who has performed a similar role in another consultancy firm
Experience in a professional services environment is highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to interact with employees at all levels, in a fast paced environment, under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, efficient and professional
Outstanding written/verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills; ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams
Sound commercial acumen and business judgement
Demonstrated experience acting as a trusted advisor to management
Demonstrated experience resolving employee relations issues
Strong analytical skills; ability to use data to generate insights and recommend actions
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Deep knowledge of Bain & Company, Inc. and the roles of ACs, Consultants and Managers
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
