WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM 


This role is part of the Digital Workplace Team, which is a subset of the broader IT department. The mission of the Digital Workplace team is to construct a modern workplace that delivers a flexible, connected, intelligent and equitable day-to-day technology experience to a diverse set of Bain and client teams, empowering them to do their best work and drive innovative client results. Bain’s Digital Workplace Experience team is comprised of Product and Engineering teams that together form cross-functional, agile product teams mapped to key capabilities.  These capabilities include: Team Collaboration, Conferencing, Enterprise Communication and Device.  Each of these capabilities are driven by Product Owners, with dedicated engineering team members to help drive differentiated experiences at scale.  We partner closely with key firm stakeholders to ensure our work is tied to key firm objectives to make Bain’s technology experience a competitive advantage. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 


Product Planning & Stakeholder Engagement (50%)

  • Distill high level roadmap set by Product Manager into a clear and actionable sequence of work
  • Ensure continuous communication with key firm and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment with roadmap and make right business decisions in the face of rapidly changing conditions and priorities
  • Research and define the customer segments served by the product(s). Develop a deep understanding of customer goals and the value customers derive from the product(s), as well as future opportunities.
  • Measure customer value/business outcomes through pilots, surveys, sprint reviews, KPI metrics, etc to ensure product fulfills vision and rapidly change roadmap to match evolving needs
  • Create and execute end user communication, marketing, and training strategy, rapidly adapting based on feedback
  • Works closely with other Product Owners across TSG to drive synergies in our products, with the goal of reducing friction for end users

Product Delivery (40%)

  • Motivate and inspire product team by conveying the product vision and regularly align the team towards our broader objectives / business value
  • Writes appropriate user stories in partnership with customers and technical teams to ensure work is clearly defined and addresses customer needs
  • Maintains a clear, prioritized product backlog based on business value and the product roadmap, continuously reprioritizing to maximize total business outcome
  • Partners closely with a Business Analyst to ensure all roadmap commitments are addressed
  • Works with appropriate technical teams and third parties to deliver continuous feature releases & upgrades as well as optimizations to the core platform
  • Actively participates in appropriate Agile ceremonies for this product
  • Works with technical teams and vendors to further improve product experiences to maximize Bain team productivity
  • May manage temporary or rotational staff like interns or contractors to help complete this work

Domain knowledge (10%)

  • Develops, maintains, and demonstrates domain expertise including both internal (Bain) and external (market) trends
  • Stays in tune with changes in the AI space, investigating ways it can add value towards their product experiences
  • Understands technical topics at a conceptual level - can collaborate with Technical product management team to inform a technology strategy that aligns with overall product strategy


ABOUT YOU


Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience managing or working within an Agile team
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams ranging in seniority and create a consensus between stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, can explain complex requirements to engineering team or propose strategic direction to leadership team
  • Vendor management skills including holding them accountable for deliverables and pushing through roadblocks
  • Ability to understand complex business needs, competitive offerings, and industry trends and translate them to customer-facing solutions
  • Ability to use analysis to prioritize business value
  • Demonstrates a leadership mindset and has a positive influence on culture and morale across broader function

Experience

• 5-8+ years of progressive experience

• 2-4 years experience in a product strategy, requirements intake (e.g. business analyst), process owner or customer facing role

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Formal Agile Certifications preferred but not required.
