Cooper’s Take: Chinese Investors Turn to U.S., Europe for Health-Care Deals

Chinese investors are looking to the U.S. and Europe for health-care buyout opportunities.Cross border health-care deals by China-domiciled investors spiked in 2016 and 2017, according to Bain & Co.’s latest Global Healthcare Private Equity and Corporate M&A Report. Nearly half of the 2017 deal value of health-care buyouts by China-domiciled investors involved cross-border deals, according to the report. Chinese players in particular have been extremely active and turning an eye toward the U.S. and Europe for deal flow, said Vikram Kapur, a partner at Bain who focuses on Asia-Pacific for the consulting firm.
