Sharad Apte is a partner with Bain & Company and the head of the firm's office in Bangkok. Sharad leads Bain's Southeast Asia Industrial Goods & Services practice and has deep expertise in thermal coal, oil and gas and biofuels.
At Bain, Sharad's experience spans a broad range of industries including coal mining, power generation, oil and gas, palm oil and private equity. He works with clients on issues of strategy, market analysis, organizational design and capability development.
Sharad's extensive expertise within the energy sector includes experience in fossil power generation, biofuels and biomass, strategy and development for energy and mining. In support of his clients, Sharad has conducted strategic reviews and analyses of the Asian energy sector, including coal and gas power projects, and the Indonesian power sector and China’s energy and power industry. He has led a number of large engagements involving major transformation programs for Asian energy corporates in Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines and China.
Prior to joining Bain in 2007, Sharad worked at L.E.K. Consulting for 15 years, founding their Bangkok and Singapore offices.
Sharad has a master’s in theological studies from Harvard University and a BA from Oberlin College.
