About Brian

Brian Kmet is a member of Bain's Private Equity practice where he leads our Portfolio Value Creation efforts globally.

Brian joined Bain in 2005 in the New York office, where he spent more than six years before becoming one of the founding members of the Washington, DC, office.

During his time at Bain, Brian has advised investment funds on over 300 potential acquisitions in industries including retail, restaurants, hotels, consumer products, industrials and manufacturing, technology, financial services, and media and entertainment. These deals spanned traditional LBO, distressed debt and corporate M&A.

Additionally, he has led a number of transformational projects for private equity portfolio companies, addressing topics including corporate portfolio strategy, brand strategy, marketing and advertising (traditional and digital), value proposition development and pricing, direct-to-consumer strategy, loyalty programs and key account planning. These projects have been in a range of industries, but focused in hospitality, retail and consumer durable goods.

Brian led all recruiting efforts for the DC office for seven years during a period of rapid growth, and he previously led the Consultant Program and Summer Associate Program for the New York office.

Prior to Bain, Brian graduated from Duke University with a BSE in civil engineering and a minor in economics, spent four years at Capital One developing and marketing upscale rewards credit cards, and earned an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
