Alfred Shang is a partner in Bain & Company's Beijing office. He is a leader in Bain’s Financial Services practice and an expert engaged with Bain's Developing Market 100 program.
Alfred has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, leading a range of projects focused in mergers and acquisitions, strategy, organization, performance improvement and change management.
He specializes in advising local and global financial service institutions on growth strategy, market entry strategy, transformation programs, performance management and risk management. He also holds deep expertise in the retail banking industry, including product portfolio complexity, unsecured and secured lending, credit cards and branch design.
Prior to joining Bain in 2007, Alfred worked in Merrill Lynch's Investment Banking Division and Equity Capital Markets.
Alfred earned an MA and a PhD in Financial Economics from Harvard University. He also holds a joint BA and MA degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.
